Soya Makhani

IMG_1362-min IMG_1358-minYou probably know of the classic Indian dish, butter chicken (murgh makhani). Even though neither butter nor chicken is vegan, it’s easy to make a plant based version! I never tried soya bites before, but they’re really nice! The whole dish turned out yummy, creamy and spicy ūüôā

Soya Makhani (6 people)

  • 100 g soy bites (I used Soy4you)
  • 1 liter water
  • 3 cubes of vegetable broth
  • 2 onions
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tablespoons curry
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder
  • 1 handful of coriander (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 3 cm fresh ginger root
  • 2 chilli peppers
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 can of coconut milk
  • 100 ml soy cream (I used Naturli Soya Cuisine)
  • 1 can chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • salt and pepper

Healthy rice

  • 1 cauliflower head
  • 3 dl brown rice or quinoa

Rice: If you’re using rice, time it with the rest of the meal. If your rice is the kind that takes 35-40 minutes to prepare, you wanna start on them first thing.

Soya Makhani: Boil the water with the vegetable broth and put the soy bites in the pot with the water. Let it sit there and soak while you heat up a big pot or wok with coconut oil. Put onions, garlic, ginger and chilli in a foodprocessor and chop finely. Then fry it in the pot along with the spices for a few minutes. Add the coconut milk, chopped tomatoes, soy cream and the water with vegetable broth and soy bites. Stir well, bring it to boil and turn down the heat. Let it simmer for ten minutes. Then taste it, add salt and pepper to taste.

Rice: Pour boiled water over the cauliflower, drain the water and mix it with the cooked rice.

Put the rice mixture in bowls and pour over the soya makhani. Use some fresh herbs for topping.

Soya Makhani (6 portioner)

  • 100 g soya bites (jeg brugte Soy4you)
  • 1 liter¬†vand
  • 2¬†terninger gr√łntsagsbuillon
  • 2¬†l√łg
  • 2 fed hvidl√łg
  • 2 spiseskeer¬†karry
  • 1 teske¬†chilipulver
  • 1 h√•ndfuld¬†koriander (hakket)
  • 1 teske¬†spidskommen
  • 3 cm frisk ingef√¶rrod
  • 2 chilipebere
  • 1 spiseske¬†gurkemeje
  • 1 teske¬†kanel
  • 1 d√•se kokosm√¶lk
  • 100 ml soyafl√łde (jeg brugte¬†Naturli Soya Cuisine)
  • 1 d√•se¬†hakkede tomater
  • 2 spiseskeer kokosolie
  • salt og¬†peber

Sunde ris

  • 1 blomk√•lshoved
