Hummus

IMG_1332 IMG_1338Every vegan (actually just everyone in general) should have a go-to yummy hummus recipe. I love this one with its hints of chilli spice and tahini bitterness. Eat it on bread (maybe these lovely low carb buns), crackers, in a burger or sandwich, as a dip for vegetable sticks or pretty much on whatever you eat ūüėČ

Vegan hummus

  • 400 g dried chickpeas (soaked overnight then¬†boiled for a hour / or use canned ones)
  • 2-3 tablespoons tahini
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • the juice of half a lemon
  • 100 ml soy cream
  • 1-2 dl olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon chilli paste
  • 2 tablespoons cumin powder
  • salt and pepper

Dry roast the cumin¬†on a pan (it only needs under a minute). Put¬†all ingredients except oil and soy cream (and only a little salt and pepper at this point) into a foodprocessor or high speed blender. Add oil and soy cream little by little only to help the blender or foodprocessor blend. I like to not add too much oil or soy cream to avoid a greasy taste, but a little bit helps blend and gets the texture nice and soft. When it’s completely blended (your choice to make it smooth or chunky), put it in a bowl and add salt, pepper and tahini to taste.

Spis den p√• br√łd (m√•ske de her¬†sk√łnne low carb boller), kiks, i en burger eller sandwich,¬†som dip til gr√łntsagsst√¶nger eller egentlig bare p√• n√¶rmest alting¬†ūüėČ

Vegansk hummus

  • 400 g t√łrrede¬†kik√¶rter (opbl√łdt i vand natten over og kogt i en time / eller brug kik√¶rter fra d√•se)
  • 2-3 spiseskeer¬†tahin
  • 4 fed¬†hvidl√łg
  • saften fra en halv citron
  • 100 ml sojafl√łde (f.eks. Naturli’ Soya Cuisine)
  • 1-2 dl olivenolie
  • 1 spiseske¬†chilipasta
  • 2 spiseskeer¬†st√łdt spidskommen
  • salt og¬†peber

Brun spidskommen uden olie p√• en pande (den skal have under et minut). Put¬†alle ingredienserne undtagen¬†olie og¬†sojafl√łde (og¬†kun¬†lidt salt og¬†peber p√• det her tidspunkt) i¬†en foodprocessor eller¬†god blender. Tilf√łj¬†olie og¬†sojafl√łde¬†lidt af gangen¬†bare for at hj√¶lpe¬†blenderen eller¬†foodprocessoren med at blende. Jeg kan godt lide, hvis der ikke er for meget olie eller sojafl√łde i, s√• man undg√•r den fedtede smag, men en lille smule g√łr det lettere at blende hummus’en og giver en l√¶kker bl√łd konsistens.¬†N√•r det er helt blendet¬†(du kan jo selv v√¶lge om den skal v√¶re fin eller grov), putter¬†du det i en sk√•l og smager til med salt, peber og tahin.
